About the Work
BINDE•BAND is an ongoing mixed-media installation initiated in 2007 and developed through accumulation, binding, and maintenance. The work operates through attachment rather than narrative, holding disparate materials in sustained relation without resolution.
Across its iterations, elements including notes, letters, embroidery, paint, and constructed forms are brought into proximity through acts of tying, winding, and layering. Binding functions as a procedural logic rather than symbol: a means of holding, constraining, and extending material continuity over time.
In this configuration, oval and egg-shaped wooden platforms support varied components - paper-based constructions, web-like structures - set in relation to wall-mounted embroidered works on graph paper. Ground and wall operate as parallel supports. Connections are maintained through tension and adjacency rather than fusion.
The work remains spatially open and temporally unresolved. Continuity is produced through repetition and care, while meaning is withheld, residing instead in the persistent act of binding and the refusal of closure.
