About the Work
TRANS(re)LATION is a multi-part installation developed over extended duration through repeated walks around a lake in the Arboretum at Almindingen, Bornholm. The work registers place through return, interval, and measured proximity rather than depiction. Three rocky points along the path are held as fixed coordinates and recur across the installation as structural anchors.
These coordinates are transferred through restrained systems: white square markers, threaded penetrations, and tactile inscriptions. Points are layered rather than sequenced, producing a triangular relation that resists narrative movement. Geometry operates as a binding logic - point, line, curve - without resolution into image.
Wall-mounted works carry Braille texts whose dots correspond chromatically and spatially to the coordinates. A circular steel plate positioned in the space functions as a ground from which threads emerge, each aligned to a specific location. Paper, scissors, and stone are held in suspension on this plate, bound or pierced, maintaining tension without synthesis.
Language enters the work as residue and rhythm rather than message. Meaning is withheld from legibility and redistributed across surface, touch, and duration. The installation sustains a condition in which place, trace, and affect remain structurally present without translation into explanation.
