COMMISSIONS

A commission doesn’t usually begin with a brief. It begins with a conversation – often about something else entirely. A bare wall. A memory that has been sitting somewhere without form. An image carried for years that has never quite become an object.

I work from what I am given. Not literally – I don’t illustrate or reproduce. I absorb what matters to the person, and then I let it move through my own history, my materials, my way of thinking in making. What comes back is something that belongs to both of us, without being owned by either.

The work often arrives at places neither of us expected. I have learned to trust that.

WHAT IS INVOLVED

We begin with a conversation – by email, phone, or in the studio. You tell me what you are living with: a space, a story, something you want to be present in a different way. I ask questions. I listen for what is underneath the brief.

From there I develop a concept and show you the direction before I begin. You will see the work at key moments as it develops. The process takes time – I work slowly and physically, and the making is part of what the work is.

Materials vary by commission: linen, textile, embroidery, cord, paint, paper. We choose together the foundation of the materials, and what the work needs, is informed by what you have told me.

FORMATS & PRICING

Prices are a starting point. Each commission is different, and I will always be clear about cost before anything begins. Prices do not include materials, shipping or insurance – these are discussed and agreed before anything begins.

Payment is 50% on agreement, 50% on completion. All commissioners receive an invitation to my membership platform, ART/ARIUM. Payment plans are available for commissions over €1,000.

Format Size Starting price Timeline
Small 30 × 30 cm €1,200 10–15 weeks
Medium 50 × 60 cm €2,200 18–24 weeks
Large 100 × 120 cm or larger €4,400 25–50 weeks

THE PROCESS

  1. Conversation  –  We talk. You tell me what you are holding. I listen for what the work might be.

  2. Concept  –  I develop a direction and share it with you. We agree before anything begins.

  3. Making  –  The work is made slowly, by hand. I share progress at key moments. You are part of the journey without being asked to manage it.

  4. Completion  – The finished work is delivered with a certificate of authenticity, signed by me. Shipping is insured with tracking.

If you are living with a bare wall, or a memory that has not yet found its form – I’d be glad to hear about it.
