About the work
Ink Grid 02 is a print made from an original ink painting — itself a portrait of an earlier body of work: hand-dyed cochineal felt squares, cut and sewn into uneven grids. Each grid square is painted by hand using a cut stencil, then connected by small stitch-like lines — drawn with ink pen, not sewn. In this painting, the ink was worked until the surface began to resemble leather. That quality is visible in the print.
