About the Work

THE ROME DISCOURSE is a series of watercolour works structured through worked background grid systems, positioned within and around intersecting X-, Y-, and Z-axes. Informed by fresco technoques, processes and logic, pigment is treated as integration rather than surface, allowing colour and residue to function as duration and material presence.

Circles, coordinates, and displaced elements organised around a central axis structure the pictorial field without directing interpretation. Select works incorporate photographic transfers of pomegranates, functioning as historical and symbolic - yet deferred - reference points rather than motifs.

The works sustain an embodied spatial depth within a two-dimensional surface, where structural research itself carries meaning.
