HYBRIDS
MIND MASP: A DELIMITATION OF SPACE
-
The Hybrid series by Camilla Howalt merges imagery inspired by invisible structures - such as skeletons, the brain, and delineations of borders - to create a visual language that explores the intersection of the tangible and the subjective. These works, painted with watercolors and ink on Hahnemühle Museum Paper printed with a grid, act as representations of invisible landscapes as remembered. Rather than traditional watercolor paper, the paper is worked with an acrylic ground, making it a canvas for a paper-based exploration of fresco techniques.
This series responds to what could be called a geo-subjective terrain: a personal map that reflects the fluidity of individuals, experiences, emotions, and identities. It evokes a narrative that transcends political boundaries, focusing instead on the internal territories we navigate throughout life.

BY CAMILLA HOWALT
In the Hybrid series, Camilla Howalt combines the precision of printed grids with the organic expression of hand-painted elements, creating a compelling tension between structure and spontaneity. These unique original artworks on Hahnemühle 310 gsm cotton paper invite viewers to explore a dynamic interplay between the rigid formality of the fine-millimeter grid and the fluid, emotive strokes of the paint. The result is an intriguing dialogue between the calculated and the intuitive, reflecting Howalt's investigation of abstraction, order, and disruption. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind investigation into the boundaries of structure and freedom, offering collectors an intimate experience with the artist's process and vision.
